The fight between former promoters of Fortis group — brothers Malvinder and Shivinder — just got uglier with both the brothers accusing each of other indulging in violence. While Malvinder accused Shivinder of roughing him up, the younger sibling has denied the charge.
“The latest incident closes all options for any possible solution to work together,” said Shivinder Singh.
On Wednesday, Malvinder circulated a video on social media claiming that he was bruised on his right arm and assaulted on the chest by Shivinder, earlier this week. The incident reportedly took place during the board meeting of group company Prius Real Estate.
Shivinder rubbished the claim and said, “This is false and a shameless attempt to cast doubts on my integrity. It has been clear to me for some time that Malvinder and I cannot work together. The gulf between our value systems is clearly too wide. This latest incident closes all options for any possible solution to work together.”
On the contrary, Shivinder said that he was trying to protect himself in self-defence as Malvinder tried to pin him to a wall and choke him. He alleged that Malvinder had been intimidating and coercing some employees to record video statements under duress.
A police complaint was made by Shivinder and later withdrawn after the family intervened.
Allegations of fund diversion have emerged in the ongoing hearing of the High Court case between Japanese drugmaker Daiichi Sankyo and the brothers as well as other judgment debtors, with Daiichi seeking payment of ₹3,500 crore that the brothers and their companies owe the Japanese drug-maker.
