Fortis Healthcare on Thursday announced that it will set up a second brand of hospitals aimed at smaller towns and cities, with a target of 25 hospitals in three years. This coincides with the hospital chain marking a decade since the first hospital (Mohali) started.

To mark the occasion, the company said it will offer 10 free surgeries at each network hospital, adding up to 500 free surgeries a year.

It will also launch a nation-wide “Mother & Child” programme for the poor under the aegis of the Fortis Foundation. This initiative will support Governmental efforts to improve infant and maternal mortality rates (IMR & MMR) and, specifically, increase societal awareness to alleviate the issues faced by the girl child, thereby contributing to an improvement in the overall girl child ratio.

Fortis also announced setting up 10 new hospitals or ventures in the next 10 weeks.
