Chlor-alkali player Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) on Monday announced that the company has initiated transportation of caustic soda lye and other value-added liquid products from its Dahej plant through a specially constructed pipeline to Dahej railway yard.
The chemical products, which will be transported through the pipeline, will be loaded into rail containers at the yard for onward transportation to the destined consumers pan India, the company informed in a statement here.
According to GACL, the 1.6-km-long pipeline is an investment towards meeting the long distance logistics goal for optimising logistics cost. The step will increase GACL's pan-India distribution at competitive prices.
This new pipeline infrastructure reduces the transfer time of liquid products into the rail cargo, brings down the overall costs and results in simplification of the entire process of safe loading of various liquid products, it added.
GACL shares ended negative at Rs 165.75 down 1.43 per cent from its previous close on the Bombay Stock Exchange
