GAIL (India) Ltd has reported a 39.7 per cent increase in the net profit for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2015-16 on higher transmissions and higher gas trading margins.
Net profit for the quarter stood at ₹ 770 crore compared with ₹ 511 crore in the same quarter last year.
However, during the quarter, the company's turnover fell 18.3 per cent to ₹ 11,627 crore due to a fall in petrochemicals and LPG realisations. In the same quarter last year, the company's turnover was ₹ 14,235 crore.
On Wednesday, the company's shares closed 2.76 per cent higher at ₹ 381.30 on the BSE . The company's results were announced after the markets closed for the day.
