GAIL to set up coal to gas conversion plants

Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, says synthetic gas is expected to be cheaper than domestic gas.

Natural gas transmission and distribution company, GAIL India, will now be setting up coal to gas conversion plants.

Addressing the FICCI conference on Unleashing India’s Domestic Exploration and Production Potential, the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, said: “GAIL India to set up coal to synthetic gas plants in Odisha. This synthetic gas is expected to be cheaper than ‬domestic gas.”

“GAIL India is in talks with the Ministry of Fertiliser for the same,” he added.
