The Indian arm of the Spanish wind turbine major Gamesa has secured an order for the supply of 100 MW of machines from an independent power producer Greenko.
The wind turbine manufacturer, which has a production facility near Chennai, will supply 50 machines of 2 MW each to Greeko. The company has not disclosed the value of the order, but on a ballpark basis, 1 MW costs Rs 6 crore.
Greenko will put up these machines in its wind farms in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Greenko has renewable energy producing assets worth 700 MW. Another 500 MW is under construction.
The order is a part of a business agreement that Gamesa has with Greenko for the supply of 300 MW worth of machines for the power producer’s various wind farms in the country, says a press release from Gamesa. An earlier order, for 150 MW, is under various stages of implementation, the release says.
