Gamesa Wind Turbines has bagged an order for a 5.95 MW project from the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP).
Gamesa Wind is the Indian subsidiary of global wind power major Gamesa.
The project is being executed at Rekalakunta of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh and is expected to be commissioned by March 31.
Gamesa said NREDCAP is the third public sector undertaking to have placed orders with the company, following the orders from GAIL and Oil India.
With this, Gamesa's combined installation in Andhra Pradesh will mark 11.05 MW. NREDCAP is a new entrant in the wind turbine sector with 5.2 MW of various capacities in operation. With this order, NREDCAP will collectively have 12.7 MW in operation by April 1, Gamesa said.
This is Gamesa's second project in Andhra Pradesh. The company commissioned 5.1 MW for Hyderabad Chemicals in 2011.
Mr Ramesh Kymal, Chairman and Managing Director of Gamesa India, said, securing the order will help the company to augment its pan-India presence in the wind energy sector, especially among the public sector units.
“The new order from NREDCAP makes us feel stronger in the wind energy markets. It will facilitate our growth in terms of size and in furthering the double-digit market share which we already hold here,” he added.
