Gayatri Projects Ltd has announced that its special purpose vehicle HKR Roadways Ltd (HKRRL) has received a provisional completion certificate from an independent consultant and commenced toll collection with effect from June 1, 2014.

The certificate, received on May 30, 2014, is as stipulated under the concession agreement.

The special purpose company was incorporated to implement two-lane to four-lane expansion project on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis under a 25-year concession from Andhra Pradesh Road Development Corporation (APRDC).

The 207-km stretch is part of State Highway 1, connecting the important districts of Hyderabad, Medak and Karimnagar, having various industrial and commercial units, including coal mines, a cement plant, thermal power stations and fertiliser plants along the highway areas.

Sandeep Kumar Reddy, Managing Director, Gayatri Projects, in a statement said: “The road plays an important role in connecting some of the key regions of Hyderabad, Medak and Karimnagar. The corridor is expected to play a vital role in the economic development of the Telengana region as the belt is marked by presence of several industrial units.”

The Hyderabad-based infrastructure and construction company is engaged in development of roads, power and other infrastructure projects. Its two subsidiaries, Gayatri Infra Ventures Ltd and Gayatri Energy Ventures Private Ltd, incorporated in 2008 in Hyderabad, are the asset development arms for the company.

GIVL operates as an investment and construction company in transport infrastructure, while GEVPL was set up to undertake power generation projects.
