Gayatri Projects records Q2 net at Rs 21 crore

Gayatri Projects Limited has posted a net profit of Rs 20.84 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2013 as against a profit of Rs 12.92 crore for the corresponding period last year.

The Hyderabad-based construction and infrastructure company, registered total income of Rs 447.80 crore for the September quarter as against Rs 419.59 crore for the same period last year.

During the first half ended September 30, 2013, the company posted a net profit of Rs 29.95 crore (Rs 20.95 crore) and total income of Rs 892.42 crore (Rs 823.80 crore).

The earnings per share for the second quarter were up at Rs 6.89 as against Rs 4.86.

According to a statement filed with the exchanges, the company finance cost for the quarter includes a provision of Rs 10.97 crore for foreign exchange transaction loss on account of liability towards External Commercial Borrowings.

For the full year ended March 31, 2013, the company had logged a net profit of Rs 63.08 crore and a total income of Rs 2022.20 crore.

The company is executing two 1320 mw thermal power projects in Andhra Pradesh and both are progressing as per schedules.

Gayatri Projects shares closed the day at Rs 52.45, down 1.78 per cent at BSE.
