GlaxoSmithkline Consumer Healthcare today reported a 20.89 per cent increase in standalone net profit at Rs 96.41 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2014.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 79.75 crore in the same period of the previous year, GlaxoSmithkline Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH) said in a filing to the BSE.
Net sales of the company rose to Rs 975.17 crore in the quarter under review, up 16.21 per cent compared to Rs 839.11 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Commenting on the results, GSKCH Managing Director Zubair Ahmed said: “Despite the category slowdown, we are delighted to show the strongest growth in the FMCG sector in the quarter. This is a clear sign of the consumer acceptance of our products based on high science.”
He further said: “Science, innovation, strong distribution and consumer insight based communication remain our growth levers, enabling us to drive growth...”
Overall expenses during the quarter stood at Rs 919.72 crore as against Rs 791.8 crore in the same quarter in the previous fiscal.
Shares of GSKCH closed at Rs 5,640.45 apiece on the BSE, up 0.41 per cent from previous close.
