GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare today expanded its oral healthcare portfolio in the country with the launch of gum care toothpaste ‘Parodontax’.
The company, which currently markets Sensodyne toothpaste under its oral healthcare portfolio, has launched the new product across the country.
“We entered oral care segment with Sensodyne couple of years back and we have been encouraged by the results achieved by the product. So we are now launching Parodontax, for gum care,” GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH) Executive Vice-President — Marketing, Jayant Singh told PTI.
GSK is driven by bringing scientifically proven products to the consumers, and with this launch the company is strengthening its oral care portfolio in the country, he added.
Singh said that the company aims to build a pipeline of specialised oral care portfolio in the country.
He added that gum care segment is relatively underdeveloped in the country and thus offers huge opportunity for growth.
According to industry estimates, the oral healthcare market in India is around Rs 8,000 crore, of which toothpaste segment accounts for around Rs 6,000 crore.
“Gum care segment is just around 5 per cent of the total toothpaste market,” Singh said.
The company said the launch would be supported by extensive advertising campaigns across print, television and outdoor platforms.
GSKCH is an associate of UK’s GlaxoSmithKline plc, a global science based healthcare company.
