General Motors India is all set to launch the Sail sedan and multipurpose vehicle Enjoy shortly. A Sail sedan was spotted at a dealership in Hyderabad.

The US carmaker is pinning its hopes on the Sail family of cars—Sail U-Va hatch, which was launched late in 2012 and the to-be introduced Sail sedan and MPV Enjoy, to provide volumes.

The Sail family of cars are being introduced in India after they have had a very successful run in the Chinese market.

According to informed circles, the company expects to price the sedan aggressively around Rs 7 lakh pitting it against Maruti Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios, Ford Fiesta, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid among others in the segment.

The sedan will come in petrol and turbo diesel options.

Incidentally, the sedan is expected to replace the Chevy badged Aveo sedan, which did not do very well in terms of garnering volumes for the company.

A white Sail sedan powered by a diesel power plant was spotted in one of the dealerships in Hyderabad. According to local sources, it is set for launch by the month-end nationally and in the first week of February in Hyderabad.

The company expects to pit the Enjoy MPV against Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga and also possibly look at providing a smaller and cheaper alternative to Nissan Evalia and Toyota Innova.
