General Motors India today said it will resume production of the diesel variants of Sail compact car and sedan by the end of this month, which was suspended last month due to quality issue.
The production of multi-purpose vehicle Tavera BS III, which was also suspended, will also resume by the end of next month.
“We will start production of Sail HB (hatchback) & NB (notchback) diesels by end of July and Tavera by end of August,” P Balendran, Vice-President, General Motors India said.
The car maker had temporarily suspended the production of both the vehicles, citing quality control issues, last month.
The company had said it had identified a potential emission performance issue with the Tavera BS-III model and a quality issue with the Sail HB & NB diesel variants.
Production of Tavera BS-IV and Sail petrol models were not affected during the period.
