GMR Energy Gujarat Solar Power Plant, Patan, a subsidiary of GMR Group, has been awarded the Integrated Management System (IMS) certification for effectively managing quality, environment and occupational health and safety at its 25 MW power plant.

The company said its Gujarat plant is the first and only solar plant in Charanka Solar Park, Patan, to have earned this international benchmark of excellence. It is also among the first solar power plants in India to achieve this distinction.

The certificates were issued by Norway-based DNV GL, an international certification body. The certifications will remain valid for three years i.e. till June 21, 2018.

Under IMS certification, the plant achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality management, ISO 14001:2004 for environmental management, and OHSAS 18001:2007 for ensuring occupational health and safety.

Aniruddha Ganguly, President, GMR Energy, in a statement said: “This certification gives strong assurance to existing and prospective lenders and strategic partners of GMR Renewable Energy business about our excellence in project development, and operation and maintenance processes and practices in solar power projects.”

GMR Energy set up this solar power plant in March 2012 with an investment of Rs 364 crore. The 25 MW solar power plant uses crystalline solar photovoltaic modules and has a 25-year PPA with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL).
