FMCG firm Godrej Consumer Products Ltd today posted an increase of 3.07 per cent in consolidated net profit at Rs 172.2 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2012.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 167.07 crore during the same period of previous fiscal.
Net sales of the company rose to Rs 1,691.31 crore during the quarter, as against Rs 1,344.06 crore during the corresponding period of 2011-12 fiscal, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) said in a statement.
Commenting on the results, GCPL Chairman Adi Godrej said:”...While the macroeconomic environment continues to be challenging, I believe our strong performance is a reflection of clear strategic focus, superior execution and our top notch team“.
He added that going forward, the company would continue to be optimistic of continuing strong sales growth momentum and expect its profit performance to improve on the back of stronger traction from launches and favourable input prices.
In a separate filing to the BSE, the company said its board has approved the merger of Godrej Hygiene Products Ltd with itself.
Shares of GCPL today closed at Rs 708.45 on the BSE, down 1.73 per cent from their previous close.
