Godrej Security Solutions (GSS), a leader in the country’s security business, today outlined plans to set up two more manufacturing units in Maharashtra to keep pace with the growing business requirement.

Launching a new campaign to highlight Godrej Security Solutions’ products, Mehernosh Pithawalla, Assistant Vice-President, GSS, today indicated that the new plants would be set up with an outlay of Rs 50 crore over the next few years.

The company has planned an outlay of Rs 15 crore for a multi-media campaign to popularise its products and solutions. As opposed to its earlier campaign where thieves were central to their solutions, the house-owner is at the centre of this campaign.

Presented humorously, the campaign seeks to focus on the security Godrej products bring to their owners.

Referring to the Godrej Household security index which was launched after a survey of 11 cities, he said the security solution business is just about growing in the country. But it holds immense promise.

“In India, a burglary happens every 15 seconds. Our survey has found that most people still rely on low-level security grills, mechanical locks, peepholes and the watchman for their security needs," he said.

Of the Rs 610-crore business garnered by this division last fiscal, Godrej’s home security business accounted for Rs 60 crore. GSS expects to close this financial year with total revenues of about Rs 800 core, he said. GSS is part of the Rs 14,400-crore Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd.

The home safe products are priced in the range of Rs 4,000 to Rs 50,000. The institutional sales offered to banks and businesses continue to be the biggest division for Godrej Security.
