Graphite India Ltd on Monday reported a year-on-year decline in net sales and net profit during the quarter to June 30, 2013. Net sales stood at Rs 394.88 crore (Rs 406.78 crore) and net profit at Rs 39.31 crore (Rs 40.55 crore). However, better operating efficiencies from expanded graphite electrode capacities at its Durgapur unit and larger export realisation for rupee depreciation improved the quarter’s operating margins to 19 per cent (18 per cent). Though the revenue of the graphite and carbon segment y-o-y declined 1.9 per cent (special and alloy), steel segment revenue declined sharply by 20.9 per cent.
