Greaves Cotton on Wednesday inaugurated its new diesel engine plant in Shendra, Aurangabad.
The company has invested over Rs 50 crore for the facility, which will have an initial capacity of 87,000 engines a year.
It will make both single- and twin-cylinder engines for existing and new customers of three- and four-wheeled small commercial vehicles. These engines can also be used in generating sets, pumping sets, marine and other industrial/agricultural applications.
With this plant, Greaves Cotton's total production capacity of light engines will go up to over 3.75 lakh units annually. The company meets the needs of over 80 per cent of diesel three-wheelers and its customers include Piaggio, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Atul Auto and Scooters India.
