Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd (GSFC) on Tuesday announced a price cut in ‘Sardar’ brand fertilisers, saying a majority of shareholders of the company are farmers about whose welfare the State-promoted company was concerned.
GSFC has been manufacturing and supplying ‘Sardar’ brand fertilisers since the last 50 years.
The company, in a statement, said the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of its phosphatic fertilisers sold under its premier brand name ‘Sardar’ has been reduced. GSFC has slashed the prices of DAP up to Rs 117 per bag, APS up to Rs 32 per bag and NPK [12:32:16 grade and 10:26:26 grade] up to Rs 53 per bag with effect from July 16.
Officials pointed out that price revisions are being rolled out in various states and MRP will vary from state to state in line with existing state taxation laws. They said this revision was an effort to ease the burden on farmers reeling under draught-like conditions for two consecutive years.
