With the Centre reducing natural gas prices, two major city gas distributors (CGDs), Gujarat Gas and Adani Gas, also followed suit in the State on Thursday.

The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), in accordance with “New Domestic Natural Gas Pricing Guidelines, 2014” had revised the price of  domestic natural gas from $4.66 per Million Metres British Thermal Unit (MMBTU)  to $3.82 per MMBTU (on Gross Calorific Value (GCV) basis).

Accordingly, Adani Gas said in a statement here, retail sales price of CNG in Ahmedabad and Vadodara has been revised from Rs.47.86 per kg  to Rs. 45.67 per kg (inclusive of excise duty and VAT) with effect from October 2, 2015.

Price of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for domestic use has also been revised from Rs 627.95 per MMBTU (approximately Rs 23.92 per standard cubic metres (SCM) to Rs 595.60 per MMBTU (Rs 22.69 per SCM), excluding VAT, with effect from tomorrow (October 2, 2015).

Adani Gas serves about 2 lakh households and 1.5 lakh CNG users in Ahmedabad and Vadodara.

Late on Wednesday night, Gujarat Gas, too, had announced reduction in prices of domestic PNG from Rs 27.11 per  SCM to Rs 26.35 per SCM and that of CNG from Rs 47 per kg to Rs 45.65 per kg, inclusive of taxes, from today (Thursday, October 1). This will benefit 10.25 lakh domestic users and 7 lakh CNG users in the State, according to an official release.
