GVK has received carbon accreditation certificate for Chhatrapathi Shivaji International Airport project in Mumbai.
This is part of the global carbon management certification for airports. This programme assesses and recognises the efforts of airports to manage and reduce their carbon emissions with four levels of assessment. This certificate is in recognition of it’s efforts to build sustainable infrastructure that exists in harmony with the environment.
GVK projects are among the environmentally friendly in their category including GVK Mumbai and Bengaluru Airports, which have received LEED Gold Certification, one of the high green building certifications in the world.
The new Terminal 2 at GVK CSIA has been built to be highly energy and water efficient. Sewage recycling, water recycling and rain water harvesting technologies will contribute to a 20 per cent reduction in water use, over and above the LEED baseline.
GVK other projects including Bangalore airport, Jegurupadu power plant have won other awards for similar initiatives.
