GVK Power & Infra Limited has commissioned both of its units of 270 mw at Goindwal Sahib coal-fired thermal power project in Punjab.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has announced it has commissioned the second unit of 270 mw of Goindwal Sahib project, within a month of its commissioning of the first unit of 270 mw.
The project is located in the historic city of Goindwal Sahib in Tarn Taran district near Amritsar in Punjab.
For BHEL, the work involved design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbine, generators, boilers, associated auxiliaries and related infrastructure. The equipment for the project was supplied by various manufacturing units of BHEL located at Trichy, Ranipet, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Haridwar. The construction work was carried out by BHEL’s power Sector-Northern region.
These 270 mw thermal sets are an in-house improvisation of 210/250 mw sets supplied by BHEL earlier. BHEL has so far supplied 35 sets of 270 mw rating. Of them, 13 have been commissioned.
