GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd has posted a loss of ₹45.43 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2013 against a loss of ₹57 crore in the corresponding period last year.
The diversified Hyderabad-based infrastructure company, however, posted higher income of ₹735.09 crore for the December quarter this fiscal against ₹648.68 crore in the same period last fiscal.
While the airports and roads divisions boosted the company’s numbers with robust performance, the power sector dragged down its numbers.
The airports division performed particularly well logging revenues of ₹568.21 crore for the third quarter versus ₹347.38 crore in the same period last year. The roads sector contributed ₹69.22 crore versus ₹64.21 crore.
The power sector output and turnover was impacted due to lack of fuel supply in its gas-based plants located in Andhra Pradesh. Revenues from power division showed a steep fall of ₹97.66 crore during the third quarter versus ₹237.09 crore in the same period last year.
For the nine-month period ended December 31, 2013, the company closed with revenues of ₹2,126.52 crore and a loss of ₹132.32 crore against revenues of ₹2,107.58 crore and a loss of ₹164.96 crore.
The company shares were trading at Rs 9.16, up 1 per cent, on BSE during the day.
