GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd (GVKPIL) on Monday posted a loss of Rs 14.50 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2011 on a consolidated basis against a profit of Rs. 41.91 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.
According to a statement from the company CFO, Mr A. Isaac George, the company attributed the loss to restricted gas supply for its power plants, which could not operate at optimum capacity and also due to forex fluctuations and interest cost.
Income up
However, the consolidated total income from operations was up 62 per cent at Rs 744.55 crore for the third quarter against Rs 459.56 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.
The consolidated total income from operations for the 9-month period (April-Dec 2011) was Rs 1,834.24 crore against Rs 1,452.85 crore in the corresponding period last year. EBIDTA at a consolidated level for the quarter stood at Rs 218.55 crore (Rs 129.20 crore).
The consolidated year-to-date (April-Dec 2011) profit was Rs 82.34 crore (Rs 118.11 crore).
