Agriculture biotechnology major Monsanto India Ltd (MIL) today announced the appointment of Gyanendra Shukla as the new Managing Director effective from March 1, 2013.
Shukla, a veteran in the agriculture sector who has worked in India and the Asia-Pacific region, will replace Amitabh Jaipuria, Monsanto said in a statement.
Shukla has worked in companies such as Syngenta and Bayer CropScience in technology development roles focusing on development of insecticides, fungicides and herbicides.
Jaipuria, who joined MIL in 2007, today announced his decision to step down from the current position to pursue his interest outside the company, the Monsanto said.
Jaipuria is credited with significant growth of herbicide business, steering the corn business through a period of transition and helped build a strong talent pipeline, it added.
MIL is a subsidiary of US-based agri-biotechnology major Monsanto company.
