Hansen Transmissions of Belgium, in which the Pune-headquartered Suzlon Energy has a 26.1 per cent stake, will focus only on wind energy, having sold its industrial gearbox division to Sumitomo Heavy Industries.
In December last, Hansen had announced that it had entered into an agreement to sell its industrial gearbox division, Hansen Industrial Transmissions, to Sumitomo.
The deal was completed on March 4, with Hansen getting €75 million.
Suzlon acquired Hansen in May 2006 for about Rs 2,500 crore (€465 million) and subsequently brought down its holding to the present level, which included a listing on the LSE.
Suzlon acquired Hansen as part of its vertical integration strategy.
After being bought by Suzlon, Hansen set up facilities in India and China and also expanded its manufacturing capacity in Belgium, with a total annual output capacity of 7,600 MW.
It makes gearboxes with power capacity ranging from 1.5 MW to 6.15 MW.
