The country's largest passenger car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India, on Friday said it has sold 90,093 units of vehicles during July.
This was up 20 per cent compared with 75,145 units sold in July 2013.
The sales was largely contributed by hatchbacks, including Swift, Ritz and Celerio, which sold 25,156 units during the month, up 81 per cent against 13,882 units sold in the same month previous year.
Its compact sedan Dzire contributed to 18,634 units in July sales, up 22 per cent from 15,249 units sold in the same month last year. Utility vehicles, including Ertiga and Gypsy, also grew 23 per cent to 5,631 units (4,562 units).
However, the mini segment (like the Alto, WagonR) declined by 14 per cent year-on-year to 28,759 units in July compared with 33,587 units in the same month last year.
