Havells India, a $1.4-billion electrical goods company, expects ₹500 crore revenue from Karnataka by 2016.

“In order to achieve it, we have launched a range of switchgear products comprising automatic changeover with current limiter (ACCL), Euro II series MCBs and RCCBs and premium range of distribution boards,” said AV Jagdish, Vice-President and Head of Switchgear Segment.

“The company also launched latest switchgears safeguard for residences from any electrical issues. Havells has different solutions for commercial and industrial applications,” he added.

In Karnataka, the company has a strong presence with a network of over 400 dealers and distributors in more than 60 cities.

Jagdish said: “The State is among the early adopters for new trends. Therefore, for an innovative company like us, Karnataka becomes a key market. We believe that for catering to a smarter India, one should withstand the tests posed by smarter States. We are excited to build upon our product portfolio and market share by empowering our customers.”

He added, “At present, the company has 41 galaxies and plans to launch nine more galaxies by 2016. Through its dedicated efforts in the State, Havells targets total revenue of ₹500 crore by 2016. The company is also planning to expand its reach to tier II and III cities and towns and increase the retail network.”

Talking about the country’s organised domestic switchgear market, he said it is estimated at ₹2,100-2,200 crore per annum for FY15-16.

“We at Havells continue to retain the top slot in the category with market share of about 28 per cent with a pre-eminent position in both domestic switchgear categories,” he explained.
