Swedish furnishing retail major IKEA has opened its first experiential centre, Ikea Hej (Hello) Home, located close to the IT hub of Hyderabad.
And the first of the 25 stores planned in the country by 2025 will come up in Hyderabad by spring of 2018 and three more in 2019 at Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru and Gurugram.
“The ground work for the Navi Mumbai store has begun and we expect to commission the store by early 2019,” said Patrik Antoni, Deputy Managing Director, IKEA India.
“The IKEA journey in India has been very exciting and having closed four land deals and at advanced stage of completing our first store in India at Hyderabad, we believe we would be able to further accelerate the acquisition of land for other locations,” Antoni told
Sharing IKEA perspective on The Hej Home, senior executives of IKEA said it provides some insight into products and solutions which its future customers can actually buy when the store opens at Hyderabad early next year.
Designed and set up over six months, it highlights what the retailer stands for and where future customers can experience its products before they can buy.

IKEA store in Hyderabad will be as big as 10 football stadiums and offer a range of over 7,000 items.
