The country’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp today announced its foray into Peru with the launch of the ‘Hero’ brand and its range of two-wheelers in the Latin American nation.
The company said it has appointed MOTOCORP SAC — a part of the EFE Group of Peru — as distributor to sell its two-wheelers to in the country.
Commenting on the development, Hero MotoCorp Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Pawan Munjal said: “Our new international markets will play a crucial role in the future as we move forward with the objective of surpassing 100 million units in cumulative sales by 2020. Peru, therefore, plays a significant role in our plans to expand our global footprint.”
The range of Hero two-wheelers which are now available in Peru include brands across segments — scooter Pleasure, Passion Pro, Glamour, Hunk, Thriller, Karizma ZMR and Karizma R, the company said.
“We are confident our products will appeal to customers across a wide price spectrum and create a new benchmark for mass mobility in the continent,” Munjal added.
As part of the Hero brand building initiatives in the local, the company will use the Spanish version of its ‘Hum Main Hai Hero’ campaign.
Recently, the company had announced its global vision to be achieved by year 2020, which includes surpassing 100 million units in cumulative production, annual bike and scooter sales of 12 million, more than 20 manufacturing and assembly plants across the globe with sales presence in more than 50 countries and a total turnover of Rs 60,000 crore.
