Hero MotoCorp (HMC) on Friday announced its entry in Africa by launching its brands and products in Kenya, where it has set up an international assembly plant as part of its global expansion plan. The operations in Kenya are slated to commence in Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast next week, the company said in a statement.
The company has a partnership with the Ryce East Africa to sell its two-wheelers in the country. Sameer Group, which is a part of the Ryce East Africa, has been appointed as the distributor, under the alliance, which will sell the products at outlets across the country.
“This is a strategic market for us in our overall plan for the continent, which is why we are also starting our first Africa ‘completely knocked down’ assembly operations here,” Pawan Munjal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, HMC said.
