Two—wheeler majors Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) raked in massive sales on Dhanteras with the home-grown market leader surpassing the two lakh units’ mark.
On the other hand, HMSI said its Dhanteras sales stood at 1.65 lakh units, 110 per cent increase over 78,500 units sold last year.
“This Dhanteras has been a phenomenal day of retail sales for Hero MotoCorp. For the first time, our total sales to end—customers across the country in a single day so far surpassed the 2,00,000 mark on Tuesday, which is a growth of over 80 per cent over Dhanteras day last year,” Hero MotoCorp Head of National Sales A Srinivasu said in a statement.
He further said: “We had anticipated this demand and were prepared with the robust 6—lakh plus despatch in the month of September.”
Considered as an auspicious day by the Hindus, Dhanteras is traditionally a day when the highest number of two—wheelers are bought and delivered.
HMSI Vice—President, Sales & Marketing, Yadvinder Guleria, said: “This happens to be HMSI’s first festive season as only Honda in India and results of Dhanteras sales reinforces from trust that customer repose in Honda.”
