Two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp on Monday launched its first ‘Hero'-branded bike – Impulse – priced at Rs 66,800 (ex-Delhi showroom).
“The Impulse is the first bike that will be sold under the Hero and not Hero Honda brand. Available in five colours, it will soon be available across select showrooms,” a company spokesperson told Business Line .
The dual 150cc bike can be used for both normal commuting as well as off-road adventure. The bike comes at a slight premium compared with other 150cc bikes, the company said.
Hero MotoCorp's other 150cc bikes include the Achiever, the CBZ Extreme and the Hunk, which are priced between Rs 55,925 and Rs 65,215 (ex-showroom Delhi).
To acquire a new brand name, the Indian promoter of the firm, the B.M Munjal family, had bought out the entire stake of Honda early this year for Rs 3,841.83 crore, bringing an end to a 26- year-old successful joint venture.
The Hero Group and Honda had signed a new licensing agreement in March under which the Indian firm would pay the Japanese auto major Rs 2,450 crore till 2014 for the use of Honda's technology.
