Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) plans to have steel making capacity of 15 million tonnes per annum and power generation capacity of 15,000 MW by 2020.
For setting up the power generation capacity, the company will require an investment of Rs 75,000-80,000 crore, according to Mr Anand Goel, Joint Managing Director, JSPL.
The company is setting up steel plants in Orissa, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, which together, will make up the 15 million tonnes per annum capacity.
Power generation facilities would include 6,000 MW of hydro-power capacity. The company has also achieved financial closure for a 2,400-MW power project in Jharkhand. The company also plans to set up two super-critical power plants of 660 MW each, in the State. In Orissa, the company has signed an MoU to set up two super-critical power plants of 660 MW each.
According to Mr R.S. Sharma, Managing Director, Jindal Power Ltd, the company will commission eight units of 135 MW each, in Chhattisgarh and Orissa. “It is a continuous process and by the end of the fiscal two units of 135 MW would come up in Chhattisgarh and six units of 135 MW would come up in Angul, Orissa,” he said.
