Ambuja Cements has reported a 12.5 per cent rise in net profit for the quarter ended September 30 on the back of higher volumes and increase in prices.
The company's net profit for the quarter stood at Rs 171 crore as against Rs 152 crore reported in the same quarter a year back.
Revenues for the quarter went up by 15.4 per cent to Rs 1,805 crore (Rs 1,564 crore).
During the quarter, the company's cement sales (by volume) increased by 7.6 per cent to 4.69 million tonnes.
‘Cautiously Optimistic'
The company has said it is ‘cautiously optimistic' about future prospects due to rising cost of raw materials and power and fuel, increasing cost of freight and difficulties in obtaining clearances for land acquisition and mining rights for mineral based infrastructure industries.
During the quarter gone by, Ambuja Cements commissioned one cement mill of 1.1 million tonnes capacity at its unit in Bhatapara.
The company scrip was down by 0.7 per cent, closing at Rs 154.7 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday .
