C K Birla flagship company Hindustan Motors has reported a 20.8 per cent decline in its domestic sales during October 2013.
The Kolkata-based company had sold 330 units in the domestic market in October 2013 down by 20.8 per cent, from 417 units sold during the same period of previous year, Hindustan Motors said in a statement.
The company said majority of the sales in October 2013 were contributed from its highly popular Ambassador of which 176 units were sold as against 278 units in October 2012.
Besides, sales of its premium SUV Mitsubishi Pajero Sport grew to 154 units in October 2013 as against 119 units.
Total vehicles produced in October 2013 stood at 340 units as against 377 units in the year ago period.
On the domestic sales of its light commercial vehicle — Winner, the company said it sold 24 units in October 2013 from 18 units sold during the same month of previous year.
Total production of Winner in October 2013 stood at 17 units as against 15 units.
Hindustan Motors currently retails Ambassador, premium sedan Cedia, Pajero Sport, premium SUVs Outlander and Montero.
It also produces Winner, in domestic market. The company has two plants—one at Uttarpara in West Bengal and the other at Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu.
