Premium cars maker Honda Cars India (HCIL) on Wednesday launched the much awaited all-new second generation Amaze compact sedan priced between Rs 5.60 lakh and Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom, across India).

It will be available in both petrol (priced at Rs.5.60 lakh to Rs. 7.80 lakh) and diesel (priced at Rs. 6.70 lakh to Rs.8.99 lakh) variants. The prices are all introductory as of now and will be revised in the near future, the company said.

The car offers 'one class above' experience with its all-new bold design, sophisticated and spacious interiors, efficient power-train, outstanding dynamics, advanced features and safety technologies, the company said.

The new Amaze also features new CVT technology, offering a powerful and effortless driving experience. This is Honda's first diesel engine combined with advanced CVT, and India will be the first market to launch this technology, it said.

"The all-new Amaze has been developed keeping the needs and aspirations of Indian customers in mind. It is a big promise from Honda and we are confident that the all-new Amaze will become one of the strongest pillars of HCIL’s business.”

It is been developed at Honda R & D Asia-Pacific following extensive market surveys, with the aim to exceed the needs and aspirations of Indian customers. India, a key market for Honda globally, is the first country to launch the all-new Amaze, he said.

The 1.2L i-VTEC (petrol) engine will give 90PS@6000 rpm with a torque of 110Nm@@4800 rpm, while the 1.5L i-DTEC (diesel) gives 100PS@3600 rpm and torque of 200Nm@1750 rpm.

While the petrol version would give 19.5 kmpl (for manual transmission) and 19 kmpl (for AMT), the diesel variant would give 27.4 kmpl (for MT) and 23.8 kmpl (for CVT), under test conditions, the company said. The new Amaze will be competing with the likes of Maruti Suzuki's Dzire, Ford's Aspire and Hyundai Motor's Xcent.
