Honda Cars India (HCIL) on Friday said it will voluntary recall 3,879 units of continuously variable transmission (CVT) variants of the City sedan manufactured between February and November 2014.
The company said it will update the CVT as part of Honda’s recall campaign in several regions globally. The CVT control software will be updated to optimise the Hydraulic Pressure applied to CVT, the company said in a statement.
“The software will be updated free of cost at HCIL dealerships across India from October 24, and the company will communicate with customers directly,” it said.
The customers can also check whether their car is covered under this campaign by submitting their 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite which has been created on the company’s website, it added.
This is the third time that the company has recalled its cars due to issues in the safety features.
In September, the company had replaced Airbag inflators of 2,23,578 vehicles of previous generations of CR-V, Civic, City and Jazz as part of Honda’s global recall campaign concerning Air Bag inflators.
In May, it had carried out preventive replacement of Passenger Side Air Bag inflator of 575 units of CR-V manufactured in 2004 and Driver Side Air Bag Inflator of 10,805 units of Accord manufactured from 2003-2007 as part of Honda’s global recall/safety improvement campaign concerning Air Bag inflators.
