HPCL launches bio-diesel in three cities

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited has launched eco-friendly Bio-Diesel Blended Diesel B5 HSD today New Delhi, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.

On the occasion of World Bio-Fuels Day, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan launched sale of product in New Delhi.

In Hyderabad, V. V. Srinivasa Rao, Inspector General of Police, TSSP Battallions, Telangana has launched sale of Bio-Diesel Blended Diesel (B5 HSD) from HPCL’s Happy Service Station, Lakdikapool in the presence of Ch Srinivas, Chief Regional Manager and State Level Co-ordinator for Oil Industry in Telangana and K.A. Devan, Terminal In-charge, Ghatkesar Terminal, HPCL, according to a statement.

This HPCL initiative is a step towards promotion of greener fuels and finding alternate fuels to reduce our carbon foot print. It is an environment friendly fuel which has almost no sulphur or aromatics and has about 10 per cent built in oxygen.

Blending of bio-diesel would result in reduction of unburnt hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and particulate matter in auto emissions. The bio-diesel (B100) shall be blended in a ratio of 5 per cent with diesel and marketed as Bio-diesel blended Diesel B5 HSD.
