Sanitaryware major HSIL Ltd is set to commission two new plants — one each to produce CPVC pipes and security products – in Telangana, with an outlay of ₹300 crore. These will be launched in March and July respectively.
The new plants are part of the company’s ₹400-crore capex plans, which also cover the expansion of existing plants in Rajasthan and Telangana. The latter will enhance its sanitaryware products capacity from 38 lakh units per annum to 42 lakh units.
HSIL Vice-Chairman and MD Sandip Somany said: “The company, which has a market share of over 40 per cent in the country’s ceramic products business, has diversified into consumer products and expects to consolidate this segment with the rollout of new products.”
Its product range already includes geysers, air and water purifiers, exhaust fans and kitchen equipment. Launching 14 new models of air-coolers under the Hindware Snowcrest brand, Somany said: “The commissioning of two new plants and expansion projects will have a role during the second half of this year and have a bigger impact during the next financial year.”
HSIL has invested about ₹150 crore in its CPVC pipe making unit and a similar amount in its security products unit, he added.
The company expects to garner a share of about 10 per cent of the country’s air-cooler market in three years, he said.
Rakesh Kaul, President, HSIL, said: “After the soft launch of air-coolers in March 2016, we expect to consolidate our presence with the new aesthetically designed low maintenance range priced from ₹8,990 to ₹17,990.”
