Hyundai Motor India Ltd today reported marginal increase in total sales to 51,030 units in August, 2011.
The company sold 50,633 units in the corresponding year-ago period, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) said in a statement.
In the domestic market, the company's sales declined 6.7 per cent to 26,677 units from 28,601 units in same month last year, it added.
Exports grew by 10.5 per cent during the month to 24,35 units from 22,032 units in the year-ago period, the statement said.
"The market continues to be tough and there are no signs of recovery in the immediate future. The rising fuel prices and interest rates have been instrumental in this sluggish market trend," the HMIL Director (Marketing and Sales), Mr Arvind Saxena said.
In the A2 segment (Santro, i10 and i20), the company sold 43,687 units, while in the A3 segment (Accent and Verna), sales stood at 7,105 units.
The A5 segment (Sonata Transform) witnessed sales of 12 units, while its new SUV Santa Fe attracted 226 buyers during the month.
