Hyundai Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd, which manufactures technically advanced excavators, on Thursday announced the launch of the country’s first excavator specially designed for salt application.
The R80-7 Salt was launched in Bhavnagar, Gujarat.
Dheeraj Panda, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, said that the market for salt excavators in India is in an evolving stage.
Currently, Hyundai has a 20 per cent market share across all models. With the launch of R80-7 Salt, the company is targeting to expand the market in salt segment and develop an identity by 2014.
The salt excavator is equipped to reduce fuel consumption by 15 per cent and maintenance cost by 25 per cent. Hyundai excavators are being used in all the segments in India, including mining, infrastructure, power, irrigation and general excavation, he said.
Hyundai Construction, a subsidiary of Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea, has nearly 30 dealerships across India.
Its Pune-based plant was established on 50 acres of land in 2008, with an investment of Rs 400 crore. It manufactures equipment ranging from 8 to 50 tonnes.
