Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer on Saturday said it has registered domestic sales of 37,562 units for the month of June, which is more than 5 per cent lesser than the 39,807 units sold in the same month last year.
However, the company registered the highest sales ever for the first half of this year (January to June) selling 2,53,428 units as compared with 2,43,442 units in the corresponding period last year.
"In a challenging market fuelled with speculation on the GST tax structure Hyundai registered its highest ever half-year domestic sales at 2,53,428, a 4 per cent growth on account of strong acceptance of brands Grand i10, Elite i20 and Creta in a pre-GST business environment," Rakesh Srivastava, Director - Sales and Marketing, HMIL, said.
He said the company expects a positive demand-pull post the successful implementation of GST in the coming months as the industry will witness heightened levels of customer interest in a seamless unified single market.
