The country’s second largest passenger car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), on Monday marked the eight millionth car milestone, with the roll-out of its best-selling SUV, the new 2018 Creta.
The fastest eight millionth milestone marks Hyundai’s successful journey of 20 years in India. Since inception, HMIL has sold 53,00,967 units in the Indian market and 27,03,581 units in exports globally, the company said in a statement.
Hyundai rolled out its first million car, Santro, in 2006 and thereafter, production picked up momentum, with the next million milestone being achieved within an average of 18 -19 months.
Commenting on this achievement, Y.K. Koo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, HMIL said, “Evolution of a revolution is Hyundai’s DNA. Today marks a momentous and landmark day in the history of Hyundai Motor India with the achievement of its eight millionth milestone.”
“Hyundai is the only manufacturer to achieve this feat in the shortest span of time, while strengthening our manufacturing excellence, customer experience, marketing innovation and corporate social responsibility,” he said.
