Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter, on Thursday said its premium compact hatchback i20 has achieved one million (10 lakh) units in global sales.

‘Made in India and Made for the world’ i20 is one of the most awarded cars in the Indian automobile landscape, winning as many as 34 awards since inception. 

 

“Reaching this historic mark is a testament to Hyundai i20’s staying power and the global appeal of a vehicle that delivers sporty design, functionality and class-leading performance. We are delighted that i20 models have achieved this milestone of one million global sales and met the aspirations of Indian and global customers," Y.K. Koo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, HMIL, said.

Hyundai is a modern, premium brand that offers quality, innovation and value for money with modern technology, styling and performance, he said.

"Hyundai is committed to fulfilling customers’ aspirations and will continue to evolve its products in line with changing market trends," Koo added. 

The i20 was launched in India in 2008 with its fluidic sculpture design language.
