Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer after Maruti Suzuki, saw 11.56 per cent jump in sales to 52,319 units during August 2013.
The company, which is also the largest passenger car exporter, witnessed smart rise in exports with 29 per cent growth at 24,008 units. Domestic sales were, however, flat at 28,311 units.
Rahul Srivastava, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, said that exports had grown due to good demand in non-European markets. But frequent and steep increase in fuel prices had impacted the already low sentiment in the domestic market, he said.
