The Tamil Nadu State branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has withdrawn the letter of caution sent to its members in prescribing the drugs manufactured by pharma major Ranbaxy Laboratories.
“Earlier in response to media news on the Ranbaxy —FDA issue we had issued a letter of caution to our members in prescribing the Ranbaxy Drugs,” Indian Medical Association Tamil Nadu State branch (IMATNSB) State Secretary, J A Jayalal said in a communication to the members.
After due verification and based on the reports of Drug controller of India, WHO, UK board and Supreme Court of India IMATNSB is convinced that there is no issue on the safety of these drugs.
“Hence we have withdrawn the letter of caution issued to our members,” the letter added.
In May, Ranbaxy had agreed to pay $500 million fine to US authorities after pleading guilty to felony charges relating to violation of manufacturing norms at two of its manufacturing facilities in India.
