Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor has reported a 39.66 per cent increase in total sales to 39,940 units during January 2012.
The company had sold 28,597 units in the same month last year, India Yamaha Motor said in a statement today.
Domestic sales stood at 26,300 units against 21,974 units, translating into a 19.69 per cent increase.
Exports rose over two-fold to 13,640 units during the month from 6,623 units in the year-ago period, it added.
“We are very happy with the growth registered in January and plan to keep the momentum high for the rest of 2012,” India Yamaha Motor Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr Hiroyuki Suzuki, said.
The company attributed the growth to the success of flagship models such as the R15, FZ and SZ series, he added.
