India Yamaha Motor has posted a 13.2 per cent growth in domestic sales, with the company selling 29,785 units during the month. The two-wheeler manufacturer had sold 26,300 vehicles in January last year.
“We are indeed pleased with the sales growth that we’ve witnessed in the past month on account of our strong product portfolio, upbeat customer confidence and the launch of the scooter Ray in September last year, which has invariably managed to keep the growth consistent,” Roy Kurian, National Business Head, India Yamaha Motor, said.
With Ray, the company formally had announced its entry in the Indian scooter segment.
“We recently introduced the Yamaha Female Training programme in Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata, the response to which has been highly encouraging,” he added.
At present, India Yamaha Motor has more than 400 dealers across India and plans to spread out to more cities increasing its dealer network to 2000 by 2014.
