Infosys’ business process outsourcing (BPO) arm on Wednesday said the company will hire 8,000 more people by end of this financial year.

“We are looking at hiring 10,000-12,000 people, out of which 4,000 have already been hired for this year. About 15-20 per cent of these would be middle and senior level professionals like managers and supervisors,” Swaminathan Dandapani, CEO and Managing Director, Infosys BPO, told reporters on the sidelines of Nasscom BPO Strategy Summit 2012. The company has a total of around 24,000 people as of June. It registered revenue of $109.34 million and net profit of $16.6 million in the April-June quarter. It is expecting a 15-18 per cent growth this year, he said.

When asked on mergers and acquisitions, he said the company is always looking at opportunities that bridge the gap in service offering or one that takes the company to a market where its clients are present.

There are opportunities in areas such as legal process outsourcing, human resource outsourcing or companies which bring in solutions for banking and retail space to bridge the gap, he added.
